What does LiveGasCost do?
It shows the real dollar cost of fuel for every drive, live as you go, from your vehicle's real MPG and current regional fuel prices. When you park, the trip saves itself with a map of your route and the exact cost.
How much is it?
Two one-time purchases, never a subscription: 99¢ once unlocks the live cost counter, and $8.99 once unlocks the full app — garage, fill-ups, summaries, export. The beta running now is free, and anyone who bought the 99¢ unlock before the two tiers existed keeps the full app free, permanently.
Do I need an account?
No. There's nothing to sign up for — no email, no password. Purchases go through your phone's app store and restore free on any phone signed into it.
Is my location shared?
No. Your drives, routes and locations are stored on your phone and are not sent to our servers — we can't see them. The app does count anonymous app-health signals (crashes, feature usage — never your locations), and the privacy policy spells all of it out.
Why do I see a notification while driving?
Android requires a visible notification whenever an app uses location in the background — so you always know. Ours carries your live cost; tap it to open the Track screen. When you're parked, there's nothing.
Why do I see trips I didn't take?
Automatic detection can occasionally start a short "trip" from a bump or GPS drift, especially with the phone parked in your vehicle. These show no cost and never affect your totals, and the latest build tightens detection and hides the leftovers. Prefer full control? Turn off automatic drive detection in Settings.
Where do the fuel prices come from?
Current regional averages published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), matched to your vehicle's fuel type and refreshed weekly — that's how often the government publishes them. You can always set your exact pump price instead.
Which vehicles are supported?
Tens of thousands of EPA-rated vehicles across more than four decades of model years — or enter your own MPG for anything not listed, including heavy-duty trucks the EPA doesn't rate.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual trips in the app, erase everything from the app's Settings, or uninstall the app — everything lives on your phone, so deleting it there deletes it, full stop. Details on the data-deletion page.
